Suzanne Conway Lagreze’s whimsical cartoon illustrations capture the eccentricities and goofiness of humans and their settings. Armed with large pads of paper and sharpie markers, she crouches down and doodles people on sidewalks, beaches, malls or wherever they gather, work and play. She finds hysterical anthropological studies in details of our everyday life: the girl with the triple-bun hairdo, the bored couples in restaurants or the “serious” proto-Renaissance portraits hanging in museums. She hopes you enjoy the samples of these creations (in a style some have called “a cross between Honore Daumier and Mort Drucker) which are posted on this website. Ms. Conway graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1986 (where she studied drawing and painting with Bonnie Miller). In 1991 she received a Master’s of Education in High School Social Studies from UMASS/Amherst. She also studied studio art and art history for several years at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Her work has been exhibited in individual and group shows in Boston, Franklin County, Massachusetts and London, England. She has been commissioned to do murals, caricatures, illustrations, logos, and cartoons for commercial packaging and promotional publications. She can be contacted at 413-624-5188. |
